About

John F. Conway Distinguished Service Award

The John F. Conway Distinguished Service Award recognizes the accomplishments of MASBO members relative to their effectiveness addressing their district's educational mission. Examples include preventive maintenance facilities programs, increasing school lunch participation, energy conservation programs, private sector partnerships, improved transportation systems, or streamlining the order and delivery systems for classroom materials.

MASBO is grateful for its partnership with KenMark Office Systems, Inc. A Visual Edge Technology Company, who, through their generosity, has made this sought-after award possible in remembrance of MASBO's first Executive Director. Both the recipient and the school district receive a plaque(s) to commemorate the award and the district receives a $1,000 contribution in the name of the recipient. The award winner’s name is forwarded to ASBO to determine eligibility for a national award, and a press release describing the award winner’s achievement is forwarded to his/her local newspaper and included in the MASBO Notebook. The award is presented in May at the MASBO Annual Institute.

Colleagues in the profession, superintendents, and regional round tables can nominate individuals for this award prior to April 1 each year, and members are also encouraged to apply themselves. There may be multiple winners in one year; the number of awards is entirely dependent on the number and quality of nominees. Award selection is made by the Awards Subcommittee and the Board of Directors.

Nominations accepted through April 1 with award conferred at May conference.
