Assistant Business Manager

TECCA is excited to announce the opening of an Assistant Business Manager position. The Assistant Business Manager’s primary responsibilities are to assist the School Business Manager in managing the financial and business operations of the school, supporting budget development, financial reporting, procurement, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Assistant Business Manager assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the School Business Manager.

Location Assignment:
The TECCA main office, located at 141 Mansion Dr. East Walpole, MA.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise the Business Office functions including Payroll, Grants, and Accounts Payable.
Assist with the development of the annual operating budget. Support the School Business Manager with confidential matters such as salary and budget documents.
Finance: Review and approve requisitions and invoices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to budgetary constraints. Prepare and process journal entries as needed. Determine account coding segment values for new accounts and create new accounts in the School ERP/Pro system.
Reporting: Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) annual end of year financial report for virtual schools.
Procurement: Provide guidance and support to staff regarding requisitions, purchase orders and account-related inquiries. Assist the School Business Manager in the development of bid/proposal documents and the analysis of bids and proposals in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 30B and OMB Uniform Guidance. Review contracts for accuracy and compliance with district policies and legal requirements.
Grants: Review and ensure compliance with all aspects of Federal and State grants at TECCA.
Collaborate with Business Office/HR staff to track position control and monitor changes to the personnel budget.
Preparation of invoices/receivables for District Courses as well as for occasional Employee Benefit reimbursement.
Communicate with school and department leaders in managing their current year budget, including status of accounts.
Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures, and operational improvements.
Assist in the annual financial audits.
Other duties and special projects as assigned by the School Business Manager

Position Type:Full-time

  • Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
    Minimum of 3 years experience in school finance and/or business office.
    Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, analysis and reporting of financial data.
    Experience using financial management and accounting software (School ERP/Pro or QuickBooks preferred)
    Excellent analytical and computational skills.
    Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Word, Google products).
    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Proven successful experience working in a team-oriented environment.
    License as a School Business Officer (or ability to obtain license in the next year)
    Knowledge of State and Federal Procurement laws, MCPPO certification preferred

  • At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
