Want To Get Assistance Finding Surplus Property At Low Cost?

If you want such assistance please complete a simple, 1-page wish list to itemize equipment wanted. (To see items available currently, go to: www.mass.gov/osd and choose "buy surplus property" and select the list called "surplus property available to public entities"). If your department or school would like help from DEP finding good surplus, Contact John Crisley for a copy of the Municipal Wish List form.

The Massachusetts Surplus Property Office has low cost, good quality furniture and equipment that is available to municipalities and schools when not claimed after 30 days on the state's official surplus list. MA DEP is working with the surplus property office to increase the amount of surplus reused in the state. Reminder from MTRB Employer Reporting Services

Be sure to provide new hires as of January 1, 2005 with Social Security's Form 1945, now available online.
As noted at our employer training programs this past summer, the Social Security Protection Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-203) requires state and local employers who hire individuals for non-Social Security covered positions on or after January 1, 2005 to provide these new hires with Form 1945. This notice explains the possible reduction in the employee's future Social Security benefit as a result of the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset. The new hire must sign the notice, acknowledging that he or she is aware of this possible reduction, and then you must send it to the MTRB, c/o Employer Reporting Services, 69 Canal Street, Boston, MA 02114-2006. Please be sure to send these forms directly to our Boston office, and not with your monthly payroll deduction reports to our lockbox in Philadelphia.
To obtain the form as well as more information on the notice itself, instructions for its use and how the form can be ordered, please visit Social Security's web site at http://www.socialsecurity.gov/form1945. For your reference, we have also posted this message and link on the Employer's area of our web site, at http://mass.gov/mtrb.
Thank you for your assistance in implementing this new procedure!
Sincerely,
MTRB Employer Reporting Services
